We gave support to the research team at the Transformative Youth Work International Conference between 4-6 September, held at the Plymouth Marjon University. This was part of L-Net’s ongoing research support for Professor Maki Hiratsuka’s (Faculty of Sociology, Hosei University) project team. Now in the third year of their project ‘Comparative research of social environments surrounding youth work (workers)’, which looks at issues and challenges around youth work in Japan, the UK, Denmark and Finland, they have presented some preliminary findings. The team comprises both researchers and youth workers. L-Net has provided them with language assistance at the conference. They have received positive response from the audience, particularly on their ‘counter-documentation’ model, through which they aim to disseminate their research, as well as to advocate the values of youth work. Next year is the final year of the project, and the team is hoping to invite a researcher and a youth worker from the UK to Japan for further discussion. L-Net will also continue its support during the event.0905カンファレンス
